On December 16, 2026, Der Nussknacker will be presented at Oper Leipzig in Leipzig in a festive concert staging that brings Tchaikovsky's beloved score to life, with the orchestra and ballet company of Oper Leipzig joining forces under a masterful conductor to deliver shimmering waltzes, sparkling dances, and heartwarming scenes that enchant audiences of all ages. The production pairs luminous orchestral interpretation with imaginative choreography and richly detailed stage and costume design to recreate the Sugar Plum Fairy's realm and the dreamlike journey of Clara, while accomplished soloists and the corps de ballet create moments of graceful virtuosity and playful spectacle. Designed as a winter highlight, the evening balances full orchestral passages, intimate instrumental solos, and the familiar melodic highlights that have made Der Nussknacker a seasonal favorite, all within the historic, acoustically resonant auditorium of Oper Leipzig. Tickets for this special concert are expected to sell quickly, so advance booking is recommended for families, music lovers, and visitors to Leipzig who wish to experience a magical holiday celebration.
