Herwig Zamernik, born in 1973 in Vienna, is an Austrian musician, producer, and label owner known for his diverse contributions to the music scene. With a career spanning various genres and projects, Zamernik has left a significant mark on the Austrian music landscape.

Life and Work:

Zamernik, the second of three children, was born in Vienna, later relocating to Friesach in Carinthia and eventually settling in Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia. Influenced by Abba and the Beatles as a child, he later delved into the world of (Heavy) Metal during his teenage years. In 1988, Zamernik joined the trio Disharmonic Orchestra as a bassist, exploring the realms of Grindcore, Death Metal, and Avantgarde Metal. The band gained international recognition with several releases under the Nuclear Blast label. In 1992, Zamernik became the bassist for Naked Lunch, collaborating with Oliver Welter as the creative core of the group. They have produced five studio albums, including "All Is Fever" in 2013. Zamernik's Fuzzroom Studio has been the hub for Naked Lunch's music production since 2004.

Apart from his musical endeavors, Zamernik has also composed music for various films, including works for Austrian Mystery-Serie "8 × 45" and films like "Universalove" (2008). He has also contributed to theater productions, such as "Nordost" in 2007.

Fuzzman:

Since 2005, Zamernik has been performing as Fuzzman, releasing several albums and vinyl singles. Notable works include "Trust Me Fuckers" (2012) and "Fuzzman & The Singin Rebels" (2014). Fuzzman's music is characterized by a unique blend of anarchistic Schlager with intact indie sensibility. In 2014, the quartet played a concert at the Justizvollzugsanstalt Klagenfurt, showcasing their versatility. Fuzzman is not only a musical entity but has also contributed to various film and television projects, as well as theater productions.

Fuzzroom:

In addition to his role as a musician, Zamernik operates his own studio, Fuzzroom, in Klagenfurt. The studio has been instrumental in producing music for both Austrian and international artists, including notable names like Kreisky, Monta, and Pauls Jets. The Fuzzroom-produced album "Jazzfest" by Pauls Jets was released in February 2022.

Zamernik's involvement in film extends to works like "Landkrimi – Waidmannsdank" (2020), "Rimini" (2022), and "Sparta" (2022).

Awards:

Naked Lunch received the Amadeus Alternative Award in 2007, while "Universalove" won the Max-Ophüls-Preis in 2008. The collaboration with the Stadttheater Klagenfurt on "Amerika" earned them the Nestroy-Preis in 2011. Zamernik's contribution to the film "Jack" earned him the Austrian Filmpreis in 2016, and the Romyverleihung in 2022 recognized his outstanding work on the film "Rimini" with an award for the best music.
