Requiem in Jazz
On 15 November 2026 the Requiem in Jazz concert transforms the storied Gewandhaus Zu Leipzig into a meeting of sacred tradition and improvisatory energy, where a symphony orchestra and choir join forces with a jazz ensemble and soloists to reimagine the requiem form through swinging rhythms, lush harmonies and spontaneous solos. Audiences in Leipzig can expect a program that balances reverence and invention, honoring the emotional depth of the requiem while opening it to contemporary textures, rhythmic drive and moments of intimate, blues-inflected reflection. The Gewandhaus’s renowned acoustics and historic grandeur will amplify the dynamic interplay between composed material and improvised passages, creating an immersive evening that resonates across the hall. Whether you are a devoted classical listener, a jazz aficionado, or simply curious about genre-crossing experiments, this concert promises a powerful, moving experience, and tickets are recommended well in advance to secure the best seats.
