Samu Haber: Finnish Music Sensation and Multi-Talented Artist
Samu Aleksi Haber, born on 2nd April 1976, is a renowned Finnish singer, songwriter, television music competition judge, and entrepreneur. He is best known as the lead vocalist and frontman of the immensely popular pop-rock band, Sunrise Avenue.
In 1992, Haber co-founded the band initially known as Sunrise, alongside his friend Jan Hohenthal. Following Hohenthal's departure in 2002 to pursue a solo career, Haber renamed the band to Sunrise Avenue. The journey to success wasn't easy, with Haber tirelessly approaching 102 record companies and agents between 2002 and 2005 to secure a label for Sunrise Avenue's music. The band's debut album was a labor of love, financially supported by Haber's friend Mikko Virtala, who went to the extent of selling his house to cover studio costs.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Samu Haber is a dedicated ice hockey enthusiast, having played for Espoon Kiekkoseura until the age of 14. His passion extends to kettlebell training and jogging. Notably, Haber is the main songwriter for Sunrise Avenue, contributing to the creation of three studio albums that collectively sold over 2,000,000 copies and 2,000,000 singles worldwide.
In addition to his music career, Haber wears multiple hats as an entrepreneur. He served as the co-manager for emerging Finnish bands and artists alongside CoMusic Management. Furthermore, he co-owned the Sonic Kitchen studio from 2007 to 2010 with producers Jukka Backlund and Aku Sinivalo.
Haber's influence extends to the realm of television. In 2020, he joined forces with Rea Garvey for a coaching team on The Voice of Germany, winning the season. His solo coaching ventures on the show spanned several years, showcasing his versatility in the music industry.
Samu Haber's involvement in Finland's Eurovision journey is noteworthy as well. He hosted Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2023, the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, Haber released his debut single "Enkelten kaupunki" (City of Angels) in 2020. Subsequently, he crafted solo hits like "Täältä tullaan" (2021), "Sä" (2022), and "Sata vuotta sitten" (2022). His upcoming solo album, "Pelastetaan maailma," is set to captivate audiences in 2022.
Samu Haber's solo journey was showcased on the Finnish television program "Vain elämää" during seasons 6 (2017) and 10 (2019). He breathed new life into existing hits and created updated versions, releasing them as singles. Some notable releases include "Hiljaisuus," "Joutsenlaulu," "Onnellinen," "Ikuinen Vappu," and many more.
