Teodor Currentzis, Utopia - Matthäus-Passion
On 2027-03-22 at the Philharmonie Berlin in the city of Berlin, Teodor Currentzis and his ensemble Utopia present a dramatic reading of Bach’s Matthäus-Passion that promises to fuse intense emotional immediacy with meticulous musical detail. Currentzis’s distinctive interpretative vision will shape the work’s searing recitatives, luminous arias, and thunderous chorales into a narrative experience that confronts both sorrow and solace, while the Philharmonie’s celebrated acoustics amplify every intimate phrase and monumental outcry. Listeners can expect a cast of compelling soloists and a chorus prepared to follow Currentzis’s dynamic contrasts and unconventional tempos, revealing fresh expressive depths in a familiar masterpiece. This concert is designed for audiences seeking a powerful, immersive encounter with one of Bach’s greatest works, and tickets are expected to sell quickly, so early booking is recommended.
