WDR Sinfonieorchester | Monumental – Wagner & Bruckner
On 28 November 2026 the WDR Sinfonieorchester presents Monumental – Wagner & Bruckner at the Kölner Philharmonie in Cologne, an evening that pairs Wagner’s elemental orchestral drama with Bruckner’s cathedral-like symphonic architecture for a truly monumental concert experience. The program promises towering brass chorales, sweeping string lines and vast dynamic contrasts that exploit the Philharmonie’s warm acoustics and the orchestra’s renowned precision and power. Performed by the full resources of the WDR Sinfonieorchester and shaped by a conductor attuned to both the mythic sweep of Wagner and the spiritual expanse of Bruckner, the performance aims to immerse the audience in long, arching musical narratives and moments of transcendent intensity. Audiences are advised to secure tickets early to ensure attendance at this signature night of German Romantic repertoire in one of Cologne’s premier concert venues.
