Henry Purcell: Dido and Aeneas - Vox Luminis / KLANGVOKAL Musikfestival
On 2027-02-06 the Reinoldisaal Im Reinoldihaus in Dortmund will host Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas performed by the celebrated early-music ensemble Vox Luminis as part of the KLANGVOKAL Musikfestival. The company's luminous vocal blend and historically informed approach promise an intimate yet dramatic rendering of Purcell's baroque masterpiece, with expressive recitatives, a haunting lament and vividly colored ensembles brought to life by historically attuned continuo. Audiences can expect a thoughtfully paced, emotionally resonant evening that foregrounds Dido's tragic arc and showcases period instruments and vocal virtuosity in the resonant, close-up space of the Reinoldisaal. As a highlight of the festival season in Dortmund, this concert invites both seasoned early-music devotees and newcomers to experience the opera's intensity, and advance tickets are recommended to secure the best seats.
