On 20 June 2027 the WDR Sinfonieorchester presents its Matinee der Akademie at the Klaus-von-Bismarck-Saal in Cologne, offering a luminous morning concert that pairs the orchestra's full-bodied sound with the fresh talent of the WDR Academy. The carefully curated program juxtaposes beloved masterworks with adventurous contemporary pieces, giving emerging soloists the chance to shine alongside seasoned orchestra members in performances that promise both emotional depth and technical brilliance. The intimate acoustics of the Klaus-von-Bismarck-Saal bring out fine detail and dramatic contrasts, and a brief introduction before the performance invites the audience into the creative process behind the music.
